Sources tell ESPN Crikey there was no deal reached on a one-year deal for Mills before the Mariners declined to trade for Mills.
The Royals are looking for more in terms of upside, and it’s unclear whether they will move for a veteran bat this offseason, but it’s possible that Mills can fill the need for an everyday hitter, especially in right field.
Mills has a .278/.341/.547 slash line with 17 homers and a .323/.367/.561 batting line this season, and he also hits for average and slugging percentage.
The Royals would like to add to their lineup, and the trade for Meadows would give them more bat and bat power to play in the outfield.
The Mariners are in the middle of a rebuilding year, but there are some areas where they could make significant gains in the upcoming off-season.MILL is coming off a season in which he hit .262/.336/.439 with a .314/.365/.552 line in his first full season.
The 28-year-old has a $12 million salary for this season.
